At Labelmate, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy is shaped by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — 17 global goals designed to create a better, more sustainable future by 2030.

We’ve chosen 12 of the 17 SDGs to guide our efforts, focusing our actions around two key themes: People and Planet. Each selected goal drives specific projects aimed at making a meaningful and measurable impact.

GOAL 3 // GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Action 1: Monthly Sporting Activities
To promote physical health, mental wellness, and team spirit, Labelmate organizes a monthly sporting activity open to all employees. These events are not only about staying active but also about strengthening social bonds and creating a fun, inclusive work culture — all in line with SDG 3.

Our Commitment to Our People
At Labelmate, we believe our people are our greatest strength. That’s why we work continuously to build a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and inspired.

We’re committed to:

  • Creating a healthy, safe, and inclusive environment
  • Supporting professional and personal growth
  • Encouraging collaboration and mutual respect

Work-Life Balance
We understand that a sustainable career also means having space for life outside of work. That’s why we:

  • Promote a workplace culture that respects personal time
  • Encourage flexible working conditions
  • Offer benefits and resources that support well-being

By fostering a strong work-life balance, we help our team thrive — both at work and at home — building long-term engagement and satisfaction.

GOAL 4 // QUALITY EDUCATION

Action 2: Education and Training on Ergonomics

To further support employee health and safety, Mensura conducted an in-depth analysis of our workstations. This led to personalized training sessions focused on ergonomics, offering practical tips and techniques tailored to each individual’s daily tasks.

These sessions had a direct and positive impact on how our team works, helping to prevent strain and injury, improve posture, and boost overall comfort and productivity in the workplace.

By investing in ergonomic education, we not only promote well-being but also demonstrate our commitment to creating a safe, sustainable, and empowering work environment for all.

GOAL 7 // AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY

Action 3: Transition to Solar Energy
When we moved into our new offices in June 2022, we saw it as the perfect opportunity to embrace the shift toward sustainable energy. From the start, our goal was clear: invest in our own building and make a conscious move toward renewable energy sources.

By September 2023, the installation of 84 solar panels on our rooftop was completed. This initiative significantly reduces our carbon footprint and contributes to a more sustainable future — aligning with our commitment to the planet and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Through this investment, we’re not only reducing operational energy costs, but also actively participating in the global transition to clean energy.

GOAL 8 // DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

At Labelmate, we believe that sustainable growth is only possible when it’s built on safe, fair, and inclusive working conditions. We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive — physically, mentally, and professionally.

Action 4: Investment in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
The safety of our workers is a top priority. That’s why we’ve invested in a completely new set of personal protective equipment and clothing for all employees in operational roles.

In collaboration with Mensura, we conducted a comprehensive health and safety survey, followed by a report outlining key action points for improvement. As part of this initiative, we also updated signage throughout the building to ensure clarity and compliance in all work zones.

This proactive approach helps us foster a safe, responsible, and compliant workplace for everyone.

Diversity & Inclusion: Ethnic Group Representation
At Labelmate, we view diversity and inclusion as strengths. We respect and value the unique perspectives and experiences each team member brings — regardless of their background, education, race, or ethnicity.

We are proud to currently have five nationalities represented within our team. Every hire is based on relevant factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and ability — never on bias or discrimination. A diverse team makes us stronger, more innovative, and more connected to the world we serve.

Equal Opportunity: Age-Inclusive Recruitment
We are firmly committed to equal opportunity, including when it comes to age. At Labelmate, we do not limit recruitment based on age — even for physically demanding roles.

We recognize the value of experience, reliability, and flexibility, and we believe that team members of all ages bring unique contributions that enrich our workplace.

GOAL 9 // INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Innovation is at the heart of our business. At Labelmate, we are constantly looking for smarter, more sustainable solutions to improve our products, processes, and infrastructure. This includes reducing our environmental impact while maintaining the high standards our customers expect.

Action 5: Monitoring and Improving Our Packaging
Due to the weight and size of our machines, ensuring safe and secure shipping has always been a challenge. We rely on sturdy, protective packaging to prevent damage during transport — but we’re also fully aware of the environmental footprint that comes with shipping thousands of units around the world each year.

To address this, we redesigned the packaging for our MINI-CAT rewinder, transitioning to a mono-material solution that is 100% recyclable. This innovation reduces waste, simplifies recycling, and moves us closer to a more circular packaging system — without compromising product protection.

By rethinking our packaging approach, we’re taking concrete steps to align industrial innovation with sustainability.

Action 6: New Product Development
ECO-DESIGN
The launch of our new Label Dispensers is the perfect opportunity to improve our product sustainability, examining the way our products are manufactured, transported, packaged, handled and uses.

The launch of our new Label Dispensers presents an exciting opportunity to integrate eco-design principles into our product development process.

We are taking a close look at every stage of the product lifecycle — from how our dispensers are manufactured, transported, packaged, and handled, to how they are ultimately used by our customers.

Our goal is to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the durability, quality, and ease-of-use that Labelmate is known for. This means selecting more sustainable materials, improving energy efficiency, minimizing waste, and ensuring recyclability wherever possible.

By embedding sustainability into the core of our design process, we aim to deliver smarter, greener solutions for the future of labeling.

GOAL 10 // REDUCING INEQUALITIES

At Labelmate, we believe in creating a society where opportunity is inclusive and accessible to all. Reducing inequality means supporting initiatives that empower individuals and communities, regardless of their background or abilities.

Action 7: Partnering with an Impactful Local Organization

We are proud to support youth soccer team JONG-SINT-GILLIS, an inspiring example of how sports can positively impact local communities.

Beyond regular youth training, JONG-SINT-GILLIS also offers G-SOCCER, a dedicated program for children, teenagers, and adults who cannot participate in mainstream teams due to physical, mental, or developmental challenges. Trained by specialized coaches, participants play in adapted competitions against equal-level teams, allowing everyone to experience the joy, discipline, and teamwork that sport brings.

By partnering with this organization, Labelmate is helping to promote inclusion, boost self-confidence, and foster community engagement — values that are deeply aligned with our commitment to SDG 10.

GOAL 11 // SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES

Building sustainable communities starts with encouraging greener, smarter mobility choices. At Labelmate, we’re committed to reducing our environmental footprint and supporting healthier, more sustainable lifestyles — both within our company and the wider community.

Action 8: Introduction of a Bike Leasing Plan
To support eco-friendly commuting, we’ve partnered with O2O, a leading bike leasing provider. Through this initiative, employees can lease an e-bike or standard bicycle via a flexible and tax-advantaged plan.

So far, one team member has already received their e-bike and is enjoying the benefits of a greener, healthier commute. We continue to actively promote the program internally, especially to employees who live within cycling distance from our offices.

This is a small but meaningful step toward reducing car dependency, lowering emissions, and contributing to more liveable and connected communities.

GOAL 12 // RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

At Labelmate, we are fully committed to minimizing our environmental impact and promoting responsible practices throughout the entire lifecycle of our products. From design and sourcing to production and after-sales, sustainability is embedded in every step we take.

Action 9: Creation of a Sustainability Report for internal and external communication
We are currently developing a comprehensive Sustainability Report to transparently share how we manage our environmental and social responsibilities. This report will serve both internal and external stakeholders, outlining our goals, progress, and future commitments.

Circular Product Design
All Labelmate devices are built with longevity and repairability in mind. Every part is individually replaceable, making our products fully circular. This not only reduces waste but also significantly extends product lifespans, allowing users to repair or upgrade instead of replacing.

Our Stand Against Planned Obsolescence
We take pride in manufacturing reliable, long-lasting machines. To support this, we offer:

  • An unmatched warranty program
  • Full repair and upgrade services
  • Continuous product innovation, with updates that remain compatible with previous models

Our goal is to keep products in use longer and reduce unnecessary consumption.

Ethical Business Practices: Anti-Corruption and Bribery
While we consider ourselves low-risk, we actively promote awareness and ethical conduct among our team. We have introduced clear guidelines and reporting procedures to help employees make the right decisions and report any concerns promptly and safely.

Responsible Supply Chain
We are committed to ethical sourcing and strict compliance with legal requirements across our supply chain.

  • Most of our suppliers are local and personally visited by our team to evaluate workshops, factories, and practices
  • Suppliers are identified as low risk
  • Our supply chain is relatively simple, though we acknowledge complexity in electronic components, where tracing original sources is more challenging

Local Sourcing Commitment
We subcontract the manufacturing of our product components, and we’re proud to say that:

  • Over 60% of our suppliers are based in Belgium
  • 20% are located in neighboring countries (Germany, France, the Netherlands)
  • Less than 20% come from non-EU countries such as the USA, China, and Japan

This approach supports local economies and helps us maintain closer oversight of sustainability standards.

Waste and Resource Management

Waste Management
All waste generated at our production center is 100% recycled or recovered, thanks to our partnerships with: VEOLIA (formerly Suez) and Tribel Metals

Paper Management
Over the past years, we’ve significantly reduced paper use by:

  • Switching to fully digital billing and communications
  • Encouraging double-sided printing
  • Using recycling bins exclusively across the office

Next Steps: Sustainable Packaging
We recognize that heavy-duty packaging is necessary to protect our machines during transport — but it also presents a serious environmental challenge. That’s why we are committed to:

  • Investing in reusable, recyclable, or compostable packaging
  • Collaborating with suppliers to redesign our approach
  • Rethinking logistics to align with eco-friendly practices

We know it won’t be easy, but we’re determined to build a packaging system that serves both performance and the planet.

GOAL 13 // CLIMATE ACTION

Tackling climate change requires bold, ongoing action — both large and small. At Labelmate, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through smarter infrastructure, greener energy, and long-term sustainable product strategies. Our goal is to actively contribute to climate resilience and inspire others in our industry to do the same.

Action 10: Launch of a Machine Recycling & Repair Program
To promote product longevity and waste reduction, Labelmate has introduced a comprehensive recycling and repair program for our machines.

We now provide exploded views for all product models, allowing customers and partners to easily identify and order spare parts. This supports do-it-yourself repairs and minimizes unnecessary replacement of complete devices.

In addition, we’ve updated our warranty program to support direct requests from end-users, making the process more efficient and encouraging repair over disposal.

These initiatives support a circular economy and reinforce our commitment to sustainable consumption.

Action 11: Installation of EV Charging Stations
Following the installation of solar panels in 2023, we’ve taken the next step in building an energy-responsible infrastructure.

We’ve now installed two EV charging stations, offering four fully operational charging connections on-site. These stations are available for both employees and visitors, encouraging the transition to electric mobility and further reducing emissions tied to commuting.

This is part of our broader strategy to make Labelmate a leader in sustainable workplace transformation.

GOAL 17 // PARTNERSHIP FOR THE GOALS

Strong partnerships are essential to achieving sustainable development. At Labelmate, we believe collaboration with suppliers, service providers, and the wider community is key to driving meaningful and lasting impact.

Action 12: Establishment of a Supplier Code of Conduct
To uphold our high standards for safety, ethics, and environmental responsibility, we have developed a comprehensive Code of Conduct for Suppliers.

This code will be systematically integrated into our purchase procedures, ensuring all partners commit to:

  • Safe and fair working conditions
  • Ethical business practices
  • Compliance with environmental policies

By working closely with suppliers who share our values, we strengthen the integrity and sustainability of our entire supply chain.

Action 13: Partnering with a Sustainable Cleaning Service
We are in the process of selecting a certified cleaning company that aligns with our sustainability goals.
The chosen partner will be committed to:

  • Using only ecological cleaning products in appropriate quantities
  • Respecting waste sorting and recycling regulations
  • Providing job security and a safe, healthy work environment for their employees

This collaboration will help us maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible workplace, further embedding sustainability into our daily operations.
